To fly into the raw beauty of the legendary Denny King’s south west is to experience the edge of the world. Swoop over World Heritage rainforest and past rugged seacliffs shaped over the millennia by Southern Ocean waves, before landing at the haven of Bathurst Harbour.

The Cape Grim Baseline Air Pollution Station is based on the West Coast of Tasmania not far from where you land and measures the purest air in the world. You will be enjoying food and wine grown in this environment.

Bathurst Harbour is quiet - a perfect contrast to the fabled Roaring Forties beyond the mountain range. The water is rich with tannins, giving it a look like the freshly brewed coffee you will enjoy for morning picnic.

Having enjoyed a short stroll and boat ride around the harbour the plane sets off again, sweeping past Tasmania’s fabled Federation Peak before tracking over highland lakes towards lunch at Meadowbank vineyard.

Landing at the private airstrip on this vineyard + sheep farm, you will be greeted by a member of the Ellis family (who has probably just cleared the airstrip of sheep about 15 minutes before!). Lunch is hosted at the winery, and guests are more like old friends as stories of the property and wine flow freely throughout.

The view overlooking the vineyard and Derwent River that flows below provide the perfect backdrop to a relaxing afternoon, and you’ll find yourself drifting back there as you take the short flight along the Derwent Valley towards home.

Having arrived as a guest, you leave a friend. Life is worth enjoying, and you’ll smile knowing that you have just lived life.

What to bring and what is supplied? Bring a jumper and shoes for a small adventure at the edge of the world. A camera is handy for your family and friends, although the best pictures will remain etched in your mind. Tasmania provides the rest.
