Accessibility Guest Information
At Saffire Freycinet we aim to ensure that all guests have an equitable and dignified experience at our luxury lodge. Saffire was designed to sit within our natural landscape seamlessly as do many of our experiences, however the lodge and facilities have been considered with equal access and flexibility as a focus.
All communal spaces within the lodge are wheelchair accessible, and there is one custom accessible guest suite available. The team are educated on accessibility requirements and PEEP (personal emergency evacuation plans), and an evacuation chair is always ready to safely evacuate guests who may require assistance.
Whether you require our accessible guest suite, or a suite nearby that requires a little less walking, or you would like additional assistance to enjoy our experiences, we can accommodate.
Our dedicated guest services team are always eager to hear from you with any queries or suggestions you may have on how we can make your stay more enjoyable.
Reserve our Luxury accessible suite:
Whilst most of Saffire Freycinet is accessible, we have one specifically designed accessible guest suite in our Luxury category. Please note this suite is approximately 80 metres from the main lodge, accessed by a gentle gradient of flat paved pathway. Buggy transport can also be offered at any time.
We offer all guests a room tour on arrival and we are happy to walk you through all facilities within your suite and ensure it is set to your individual requirements. These adjustments could include excess furniture and rug removal, repositioning room facilities and provisions, and familiarisation with our room digital controls.
Features unique to this room:
- An entry ramp leading to a wider front entrance door, along with a wide balcony door
- One level layout of living, bedroom and bathroom
- Accessible position of lights, blinds and air conditioning controls
- Freestanding television
- Open shower with removable shower head, with bench seat and support rails
- Accessible toilet with support rails
- Accessible minibar fridge, tea and coffee making facilities
- Bathroom taps set low to the side, with roll under space below the inbuilt cabinet
Lodge facilities
All communal lodge spaces are wheelchair accessible via elevators, and also feature floor tactile indicators to assist guests who are blind or have low vision to guide orientation and navigation.
There is level or ramp access to all floors and pathways around the lodge. The exception is an uneven surface leading to the main Saffire Spa and Gym entrance, however we can highlight alternate access available.
Our experiences each have unique locations so please talk to us specifically about what may or may not be suitable for you.
There is an accessible restroom in communal areas that services reception, lounge and restaurant.
Guest Experiences
The Saffire guiding team are absolute specialists in tailoring our tours to make an individuals’ experience as unique as the signature Tasmanian experiences themselves.
From offering small guided tours for people who may have sensory requirements, be hard of hearing, or have low vision, our team can deliver a highly personalised experience.
Not all of our experiences can be accessed on sealed pathways – however there are a variety of options such as buggy transfers to our Devil enclosure, alternate wheelchair accessible walks in the National Park, or gentler route options with our indigenous guide Mick.
Our Freycinet Oyster Marine Farm experience involves wading into waist-deep water which can be difficult for some guests, however we can happily accommodate an alternate shore-based delicious option.
An additional guide can be provided for those requiring more physical support in our natural surrounds, or to help guests with low vision or hearing who require detailed interpretation or clearer communication. Our guiding van may be too restrictive for large equipment however an additional guide can travel with any guest vehicles adapted to your requirements. We offer valet parking for all guests and handle all baggage for you.
If you are considering joining any of our experiences, please speak with our guiding team before arrival who will be happy to share details of what you can expect, and offer any alternative arrangements for your time with us.
